Saturday, July 20                                  Methven, New Zealand                                    Day 21

Early, early, and I repeat early in the morning, we left out comfortable, cozy bed for Rock and Ice in Methven, which is right by the mountains.  When we loaded onto the bus, we all fell asleep again watching Mr. Bean, which the bus driver so kindly put on for us.  That morning was surely one of the coldest mornings during the whole trip.  The wind was sharp and the air was cold, partly because we were right by the mountains.  As we arrived at Rock and Ice, the guides there woke us up by giving us 45sec to put our stuff away in our respective bunks or we will be embarrassed.  However, some of the girls didn’t make it so they had to spell the word Virginia with their butt.  Afterwards, we played a game like cat and mouse and cats had to capture the mice.  All this moving and excitement really woke us up.  Then we were lectured on what to do when we are there and what we will be doing.  Then we took a bus to the obstacle course closer to the mountains.  We were all dressed very warmly and we had gloves.  First we walked tight rope with another person to improve our teamwork abilities, and then we went to the obstacle course and did some daring stuff such as abseiling down a cliff and walking ropes 100 meters above ground.  Of course we were harnessed safely. After spending a few hours out there, we returned to the cabin and we were debriefed.  We had dinner and the guides talked to us about how to improve our lives and make us successful.  It was very inspiring.
