Wednesday, July 3                               Sydney, Australia                                              Day 4

Its summer, well technically winter, but it’s my vacation and we are going to school, bummer.  When we arrived at Mount Vernon Seventh Day Adventist College, at 8am, we all assembled in the church to have mass.  We sang hymns and the wonderful speaker spoke about conquering one’s fears and overcoming hardships and difficulties.  After church, we begin to attend classes.  Some of the classes we attended were Aboriginal History, Aboriginal Art, Marine Biology of Oceania, and Aboriginal Music.  During lunch we played basketball with the students at the school.  After school we went over to the sport field, and we learned how to play Aussie Rules Football (soccer) and Austag (flag football).  I had a great time.  That night we attended a bonfire in Sydney with the students we met.  For dinner I had tomato soup with cheese and leavened bread that they made.  It was absolutely delicious.  Later that night, the headmaster of the school arrived to talk to us, and welcome us to Australia.  He taught us some Australian folk songs such as “Waltzing Matilda.”  Then in return, our delegation along with the one from Maryland taught the Australian students a James Brown song, “I Feel Good.”  It was a great night.
